Introduction

The Blinded Veterans Association, (BVA), founded in 1945, by 100 war-blinded veterans for the purpose of sharing their experiences with each other, as well as to promote their dignity. There are now 50 regional chapters throughout the country, with nearly 10,000 members, a mere fraction of the total number of legally blind veterans.

We have an extremely active chapter here in San Diego, which was founded in the early 1980’s. We hold quarterly meetings in various locations throughout San Diego. We would love to have you join us as our guest, and hopefully become a member. You need only be a veteran and legally blind. Your sighted loss need not be service related. (In fact, a majority of our members are NOT service-connected for blindness.

We believe our group will provide you with new friends, new energy, and a sense of purpose. We’re sure it will not only enhance your self-esteem, it will also improve the quality of life for other blinded veterans and families. We look forward to your participation.
